The annual Holistic Centers Gathering is truly international with participants from the UK, Europe, US, Canada, Mexico, Kenya, Sri Lanka and China joining us this year. The Gathering includes centers that describe themselves in different ways and yet share a holistic approach; retreat, wellness, sustainability, spiritual or centers of transformational learning, all are dedicated to the awakening of consciousness. Nearly 60 participants from thirty five centers in nine countries will be represented, including eight different states across the United States, and fourteen centers joining us for the first time.
West Lexham is a family-run self-catering retreat centre located in the heart of the Norfolk Countryside. The estate is an eco-friendly paradise, run on over 90% renewable energy, providing a ‘soothing’ escape to unwind from the ‘hustle and bustle’ of everyday life.
This stunning, privately-owned business now requires a General Manager to support the owners in running and developing the operation. [Read more…]
In 2012 when I attended my first International Center’s Gathering, hosted by the Findhorn Foundation that year, I was so excited to find out that there were over 50 such centres around the world! At that time, I was merely dreaming Tiriji, the Eco Center I was intending to create in Meru, Kenya.
At the Gathering therefore, you can imagine my curiosity to find out and learn what others were doing at their Centers. I started looking online and visited Findhorn a number of times to learn more about programming, fundraising, marketing and communication, food and guests service. I really loved the eco-buildings and other systems different Centers set up to build sustainable systems and low carbon foot prints. [Read more…]

At Esalen, we care about being present. We bring that to everything we do. We don’t just build a table, we build a work of art that’s also a table. We don’t just say hello, we make eye contact and listen with intention. We feel the same way about our team members – showing up in support of their full being. We offer great health care, access to workshops, and the space to do your personal and collective work.

For the third running we have partnered with Retreat Guru to raise awareness of the annual Centers Gathering and invite new centers to join us. With the support of our host center in 2018, Omega Institute, we’re able to offer one free place and welcome you to enter the contest. Just share your inspiration for joining us and we hope to meet you in May!
Our 2018 webinar series began by exploring ‘The Value of Diversity and Inclusion in our Holistic Centers’ hosted by the Omega Institute in upstate New York. This is a theme Omega have been actively diving into for nearly four years and although they don’t claim to be experts they offered practical tools that we can all learn from.
Carol Donahoe, Program Director of Omega, began by sharing how life changing the conversations have been and highlighting the necessary first step to embrace the learning journey, “It’s vital to have everyone on board. The leadership team must be in agreement that this topic is a priority.”
After a 30+ year history of Centers Gatherings being held around the world, we’ve been growing into a more formal organisation in the last twelve months. An Executive Director has been in role since December 2016 and the Board grew from three members to six in 2017. In the next month you’ll notice a new look to the website as we strengthen our online presence.
The Holistic Centers Network (HCN) provides creative networking opportunities that strengthen communication, connection and collaboration among holistic centers around the world, and hosts the annual Centers Gathering. HCN and Centers Gathering are the primary initiatives of the Breitenbush Eco Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit social benefit organization based in Oregon, USA. [Read more…]
In mid October I received an unexpected invitation to visit China for the third consecutive year. After the 2015 Centers Gathering in Beijing, Mr Liu, founder of the community that hosted the event, was inspired to build the Orenda Psychosomatic Medicine Museum showcasing the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the leading science of health care and the holistic movement in the Western world. They were keen to feature the Findhorn Foundation first, in recognition of the international community and their connection with the United Nations. [Read more…]
The House of I is part of a large land development town called the Orenda Tribe, which is 90 kilometers to the northwest of Beijing with less than half an hour drive to the Great Wall. We call our place a learning center that promotes holistic awakening and consciousness in the heart of urban population. In the past four years since our founding, we have run a range of programs and activities tapping the potentials of our residents to connect with their inner self and from that place to connect with their neighbors and the nature. Our mission is to contribute to the development of holistic consciousness of a nation and people caught upon with ever-growing consumerism, exploitation of natural resources and the pollution of air and soil.
The Findhorn Foundation is honoured to have been chosen by the P.E.A. (People. Environment. Achievement.) Awards, the UK’s leading sustainability awards, as their charity of the year. Now in their seventh year, P.E.A. honours the individuals and teams behind the products, services and businesses that are changing the face of our planet.
This recognition acknowledges the Foundation as the UK’s pioneer in supporting people to reconnect with themselves and with the rest of nature, which P.E.A. Awards see as the crucial work of the next ten years for individuals and businesses. [Read more…]
