It is with great emotion that we wish to inform you that Falco, 63, founder and inspiration of Damanhur, passed away yesterday, after a sudden and brief illness. We were somehow waiting for this event, because in mid-March, Falco alluded to his health problems in an article in our daily newspaper, and subsequently, his decline was more visible every day. In honoring his wishes, we only share this information with you now. [Read more…]
Welcome to Beautiful British Columbia for the 2014 Gathering
The International Holistic Centres Gathering will be at The Haven from 6 – 11 April, 2014. The Haven is a not-for-profit charitable organization located on beautiful Gabriola Island, BC, Canada. For 30 years The Haven has offered programs for personal and professional development and growth. People leave The Haven with skills to be fully alive, have healthy relationships and communicate effectively.
The Haven’s Executive Director, Rachel Davey, says: ‘We are delighted to be hosting the 2014 Centres Gathering and look forward to welcoming representatives from centres all over the world to our beautiful location.
The Gathering is a unique opportunity for likeminded centres to share best practices, in the knowledge that what supports an individual centre to thrive strengthens the network as a whole. We are also fortunate enough to be located in a part of Canada known for being ‘the best place on earth’.
There will be more information available in the coming months about the 2014 Gathering. This is an experience not to be missed! For more details please refer to the invitation page of this website.
TEDx Gabriola Island Talks Now Online
On March 18 2013, the very first TEDxGabriolaIsland took place at The Haven, Gabriola Island. Although many thousand TEDx events are held around the globe every year, TEDxGabriolaIsland is one of very few representing a small, rural island community. One hundred attendees from Gabriola Island and further afield came together for an in-depth exploration of empathy, unity and diversity.
The talks from TEDxGabriolaIsland are now available on the TEDx Talks YouTube channel. Speakers included Mary Gordon, internationally renowned creator of the Roots of Empathy schools program and broadcaster Shelagh Rogers. Musicians Victor Wooten and Mike Stevens also spoke and were joined by performance artist Megan Daalder (creator of the Mirrorbox). Also presenting was Gabriola artist Sheila Norgate, community activist Shelagh Huston and author and lecturer Jock McKeen. Two grade 11 students from Nanaimo District Secondary School, Rachel Fritz and Jenna Mirau, completed the speaker line up.
It was an amazing day full of learning, inspiration and wonder and, of course, ‘ideas worth sharing’. All of the talks can be found on the TEDxGabriolaIsland playlist by following this link: http://bit.ly/15eoLdU or go to youtube.com and put TEDxGabriolaIsland into the search box.

The Haven is happy to host the 2014 Gathering
The Haven has participated in many Centers Gatherings over the years, sending different members of staff. I attended my first Gathering in 2011 at Findhorn, and it didn’t take long for me to be hooked! It was very clear to me, as Executive Director of The Haven, that this was a very important meeting for me to attend every year. When possible, I take another member of Haven staff with me.
I love the model that underpins the Gathering, and its long standing history. This is a group that has met every year for many years. Sometimes it’s a big group, other years smaller. Sometimes it has met in Europe; other times in North America. Some centers have been coming consistently for many years. Others come when they can. What unites all of the meetings is the desire for all of our centers to be strengthened by what we can share. Rather than adopting the more traditional competitive position, all of the centers at the Gathering share the belief that if one of us is stronger, we are all stronger. Not only that, but by sharing our best practices, our challenges and our triumphs, that ultimately the world will be a better place. [Read more…]

Eureka Institute share their experience of Esalen 2013
Greetings All!
I can’t tell you how much spending the week with some of the most experienced, patient, and loving people in my up and coming field meant to me. I came back with a vibe that has been contagious! Many great things have happened, and what you have shown me it is no doubt infectious. You are all doing such great work, worthy of a legacy to leave behind. You have shown me the way, and I can’t tell you all how much I appreciate it, from the bottom of my heart. I realized there is so much to learn, not just about myself, but bringing something…….different. We are all filling the gap, so to speak, for the type of learning experience we feel will give fuel to present and future generations that create a better place for all. I’m in total admiration, believe me!
I feel compelled to participate in any way you all feel I can contribute, so please let me known if you have any thoughts. I will absolutely put in as much time as I can to see that retreat centers around the world can connect and benefit as I have from being around such an inspiring group!
Peace, Love, and Freedom!
Cheers! (From North Idaho!)
