Founded 35 years ago, Hollyhock hosts a diverse range of programs to educate, enlighten, and inspire a generational wave of change agents. Teachers, health care workers, people in life transitions, spiritual practitioners, social entrepreneurs, and seekers of a better world, all find insights, peers, and camaraderie at Hollyhock. More than 80 residential courses are offered at the Cortes
campus, for generally seven months of the year, with increased Vancouver-based programs anticipated in the future.
Hollyhock Board seeks a new CEO as a leader for the future, following the 10 month notice to retire from her position by Dana Bass Solomon, after 18 years in the role. The mandate is to guide Hollyhock into the future, contributing to the long term well-being for people, planet, and society. The CEO is primarily based in Vancouver, with a strong presence on Cortes Island. Hollyhock’s Vancouver office houses several key outward facing roles, including program design, fundraising, and marketing.
The current strategic focus is to build upon the 35 year depth of experience and strong alumni and reputational base, to explore new methods for delivering value, both by bringing the offerings to other physical locations, and through on line learning tools.
To ensure success, the new CEO will demonstrate a deep mission sensibility, and the experience and adeptness needed to grow Hollyhock to its next era. To qualify for this role, you will be a proven leader who is highly and personally motivated to make a difference in the world; you will believe in the power of experiential learning experiences to create and develop courageous agents of change – likely because you are one yourself. You will be open-minded and strong on empathy.

● Broad fund-raising experience, including with major donors.
● Execution savvy to execute the five year Strategic Plan.
● Successful track record in multiple stakeholder engagement and influence.
● Operational and financial acumen; organizational and team leadership.
● High level strategy development for programs.
● Public speaking and a high comfort level in the public eye.
● Extremely strong relationship building skills.
● Sophisticated interpersonal skills; outstanding communicator.
