Kalani is an educational retreat center that draws worldwide visitors to Hawaii Island for inspiring group and individual retreats, healing bodywork, yoga, fresh, local cuisine, and immersion in nature. Kalani also shares an extensive Hawaiian Culture offering, presenting weekly classes in Hula, Lahaula Weaving, and La‘au Lapa‘au (plant healing). Dedicated to providing transformational experiences via nature, culture and wellness, Kalani is located in the lush jungle of the Puna district of East Hawaii, and welcomes thousands of visitors annually. Kalani’s goal, represented in Hawaiian culture by the ‘Io (hawk) is to move forward with peace and compassion, and prosperity for all.

IT – Programmer
We rely on our programmer to keep our proprietary database and property management system online, accurate, and functioning in accordance with user needs. The programming role at Kalani is a key contributor to our Information Technology team, and interfaces heavily with our Marketing/Communications teams.

Kitchen/Food Services Department
The Lanai at Kalani is more than just a place to eat; it is the heart and hearth of our community. Kitchen leadership is responsible for oversight of operations, creating a safe and harmonious experience for staff and volunteers, and delivering consistent, high quality service of balanced and delicious meals to all guests of the Lanai, while operating within systems grounded in permaculture principles.
The Executive Chef directly supervises the Food & Beverage Manager and together they are the leaders charged with manifesting Kalani’s vision of decolonizing and revolutionizing Hawaiian cuisine for the 21st century.

Food Service Shift Leader
The Shift Leaders are a crucial and beloved part of the Kalani Food Services (FS) Department. The position offers a unique combination of culinary creativity and mentoring of Kalani’s resident students. Responsibilities include the preparation and execution of the meals and supervision/leadership of a volunteer staff. This position affords opportunities for sharing your culinary knowledge as well as participation in the overall direction of the department.
