We are excited to host the 2013 Center’s Gathering on April 14-19 2013 and hope to see you here.
Why should you come?
For 50 plus years personal and social growth retreat centers have played an extremely important role in society. Thousands and thousands of people feel bonded to our centers, as if we were part of their family. We shape lives. We build careers. We influence who the next spiritual leaders are. We encourage social change. What an awesome responsibility we have.
So, in this rapidly changing society, with the shifting of consciousness, a major theme for this conference asks: What is the future of centers? What role(s) do we play? Are we evolving? Growing? What does that look like? What does today’s society need? Are centers adversaries or allies, silos or a connected whole? These are important questions to ponder as the centers and the world matures. Individually we are effective; together we are vastly powerful. Imagine us as a tightly bonded network, sharing even one commonly chosen goal or message that we wish to promote in the world. What even greater impact could we have?
Together we will co-create an agenda of learning, growing, sharing, networking and relaxation that is of value. In addition to talking about the big picture of centers, there is true wisdom in learning from each other’s successes, failures, strengths, weaknesses, and best practices. Additionally, forging individual relationships within the center’s network is undeniably important when looking for resources, recommendations, and/or advice. Lastly, learning about other centers and their missions can be tremendously inspiring and motivational, reminding each of us why we do this work in the world. The agenda will be a collaborative effort and, as part of the Esalen experience you’ll also spend time out-and-about in the Esalen community, learning about areas of interest by participating in daily activities on campus. The program is ours to create so if there is something specific that would motivate you to come, that would define success for you, please let us know in the survey provided for this purpose.

I’ve just discovered this network and am thrilled, as I direct a retreat center in the Midwest and have felt a bit like a pioneer. Glad to find an opportunity to connect and learn from masters in this arena.

Hello See, it’s lovely to hear from you and have another look at the PADETC website. I’m sorry we won’t see you at Esalen, you are still very much part of the network of light. I will mention your request about a skype call, it would certainly be good to include participants from previous gatherings in this event somehow, perhaps by blog posts and news afterwards might be easier.
Many blessings on your and all your work,
Christine
